As of 29 Oct 2017, Alan Baillie (UK, b. 17 Jan 1937) had
been motor racing for 55 years 135 days. His first race was in an Austin-Healey
at Nottingham Sports Car Club’s 10th Annual Motor Race Meeting at Silverstone,
UK, on 16 Jun 1962. He has raced every year since then.
A comics artist
Al Jaffee (USA) had worked for 73 years 3 months from the first
publication of his artwork in Joker Comics in Dec 1942 through to the Apr 2016
issue of MAD magazine.
An airline mechanic
As of 17 Jul 2017, Azriel “Al” Blackman (USA, b. Aug 1925) had
worked for American Airlines for exactly 75 years. He was 91 years old at the
time, just a month shy of his 92nd birthday.

On 6 Apr 2018, Jack Reynolds (UK, b. 6 Apr 1912) celebrated his
106th birthday by gliding down a 347-m-long (1,138-ft) line c. 50 m (160 ft) up
in the air. The feat took place at the Go Ape! adventure center in Grizedale,
Cumbria, UK.
Person ever
The greatest age to which any human has lived is 122 years 164
days by Jeanne Louise Calment. Born in Arles, France, on 21 Feb 1875, she died
in a nursing home there on 4 Aug 1997. The oldest man ever was Jiroemon Kimura
(JPN, b. 19 Apr 1897), who died on 12 Jun 2013 aged 116 years 54 days.
Oldest performing flying trapeze artist (female)
Aerial gymnast Betty Goedhart (USA, b. 25 Oct 1932) was 84
years 249 days old on 1 Jul 2017, as confirmed in San Diego, California, USA.
She performs four times a week at Trapeze High in Escondido. Although she loved
watching circus trapeze artists as a child, Betty didn’t become a “flyer”
herself until she was 78 years old.
Oldest competitive ballroom dancer (female)
Tao Porchon-Lynch (FRA, b. 13 Aug 1918) was still enjoying
competitive ballroom dancing at the age of 98 years 302 days, as confirmed in
White Plains, New York, USA, on 11 Jun 2017. Tao has been performing in dance
contests since the age of 87. She is also a yoga master and has been practicing
this ancient discipline for 70 years.

Stephen “Steve” Ward (UK, b. 12 Aug 1956) was 60 years 337 days old at the time in Nottinghamshire, UK, on 15 Jul 2017. This was to be Steve’s last competitive fight. Germany’s Andreas Sidon knocked him down in the seventh round of the first WBC Veteran Heavyweight title contest and he retired afterward.

Squadron Leader Phillip Frawley (AUS, b. 8 Mar 1952) was 65
years 146 days old as of 1 Aug 2017. He is a fully operational fighter pilot and
flying instructor.
Person to cross America by bicycle (female)
Lynnea C Salvo (USA) was 67 years 32 days old when she
finished her trip from Oceanside, California, to Bethany Beach, Delaware, USA, on
23 Oct 2016. A retired teacher, she cycled 3,163 mi (5,090.35 km) through
temperatures that sometimes exceeded 100°F (37.78°C). Lynnea rode in support of
a mental health charity.
