That saying is applicable to most products used in residential construction and remodeling, and it's doubly true about flooring. These bevels prevent you from noticing the small inaccuracies in machining that cause some boards to lay slightly higher than others. The procedure for installing a pre-finished hardwood floor would be about the same as the methods used in this article.
